Imagine playing Cyberpunk 2077 on your Android and iOS. Yes, that might become a reality soon. The Polish developer CD Projekt Red is considering bringing Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series to the mobile platform. They want to bring out the mobile ports and tap into the expanding world of the mobile gaming market.

During CD Projekt’s Fiscal Year 2023 earnings call, CEO Michael Nowakowski said that the company is very keen on licensing its IP rights to third-party developers to create a mobile adaptation of their titles. This shows that the company is looking to expand its reach beyond traditional gaming platforms and venture into the ever-growing mobile gaming market.

Nowakowski said that discussions are ongoing with third-party developers regarding potential partnerships, but agreements are yet to be finalized. He further added that no specific business model as to licensing fees or profit-sharing arrangements has been decided; it’s all yet to be decided.

While no more details have been revealed, it is speculated that CD Projekt Red are in talks with Lightspeed Studios (Tencent Games) or NetEase Games, who will develop the mobile version of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher. Since work is yet to be started on the projects, there is hardly any hope that Cyberpunk 2077 or The Witcher’s mobile version will be released before 2026.

The Witcher franchise did make a few attempts on the mobile platform with titles like Gwent: The Witcher Card Game and The Witcher: Monster Slayer (later shut down). Fans’ reception to both of these mobile games was decent, showing that CD Projekt’s IPs will thrive in the mobile gaming space.

The news of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Mobile has sparked conversations and excitement among players. Expectations are high, and players are eagerly waiting for further updates and announcements.
